Ken Frederick
Ken Frederick has been active his whole life. When a rotator cuff injury sidelined him for a time, he found that when he was able to return to his active routine, some activities needed to be modified to protect his healing shoulder. Being a problem solver, Ken modified his exercise equipment to address his needs. After using his modified equipment for some time and confident that he was on to something, he called the Juniata College Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership (JCEL) seeking assistance for potential commercialization of his invention. He was referred to the Keystone Innovation Zone (KIZ) program through JCEL’s partner, Huntingdon County Business and Industry. The KIZ Coordinator arranged a meeting with a representative from the Pennsylvania Technical Assistance Program (PennTAP). Through PennTAP’s assistance, Ken’s prototype is currently being transformed into a series of mechanical drawings that will eventually be submitted with his patent application. These drawings will serve as the blueprints for the subsequent production of his product.
