Mutual Benefit Group

For over 100 years, Mutual Benefit Group (MBG) has called Huntingdon its home. To ensure their continued presence in our community, HCBI helped company officials’ access low-interest financing to help them expend their corporate headquarters and operations center. This 2006 project had MBG access two state loan programs (PA Industrial Development Authority/PIDA and PA Enterprise Zone Competitive Loan Fund/EZ) to help finance their building expansion and renovation project. $2.25 million from PIDA and $500,000 from EZ helped MBG complete a $5.9 million development project in downtown Huntingdon Borough. Today, MBG has 200 employees and has experienced brisk growth. In a recent company satisfaction survey of independent insurance agents, MBG ranked first overall and first in Commercial Lines and second in Personal Lines. Besides development financing, HCBI coordinated efforts with the Governor's Action Team (GAT) to obtain tax credits and worker training grants to help MBG make its expansion a reality. As a result of the expansion, MBG is committed to Huntingdon County and is positioned for future growth.
