Cassville Food Mart and Deli

Cassville Food Mart and Deli Randy and Jan LeminIn September 2007, the Cassville Superette suffered a devastating fire that left the store completely destroyed.  Owner David Snare decided not to rebuild the small store that served the community of Cassville.  Many residents and local business owners expressed their concern about the lack of a store.  Local homestead owner Bruce Lane stated that he now must “notify those who have reservations to be sure to stop along the way to obtain all their staples” as they can no longer get them in Cassville.

During the nearly year long absence, residents and tourists of Cassville, Todd and other surrounding communities had to travel more than fifteen miles to get basic necessities such as gas, a loaf of bread and their morning cup of coffee.  Local entrepreneurs Randy and Jan Lemin purchased the property and began to rebuild the community staple.  The store celebrated its grand opening in August of 2008.  The Lemin’s offered gas at $2.85 a gallon for the first 1,000 gallons as this was the price of gas when the location burnt.

HCBI worked with the Lemin’s and SAP&DC to secure a low interest loan to cover a portion of the expenses to rebuild the 3200 sq foot store.  Mr. Lemin plans to employ fifteen to twenty people at the store, most of whom are local residents.  The Cassville Food Mart and Deli is three small businesses rolled into one – a small grocery store, gas station and a restaurant that provides eat-in or take-out services.  Mr. Lemin noted that when the store is complete it will offer other amenities such as wireless internet, TV’s, and a lottery machine.
