Growth at Riverview Business Center
Riverview Business Center in Mount Union is becoming a hotbed of development in Huntingdon County. In addition to the recent sale of 19 acres to Bonney Forge Corporation, HCBI has closed the sale of two parcels to IFC Services for the construction of an adult training facility. The facility will encompass approximately 6000 square feet and initially employ at least 10 people, with the possibility of job growth over the next few years. The facility, to be built on lots 8 and 9 in the business center, will focus on providing training and life skills to developmentally challenged adults from Huntingdon County and surrounding areas. With the sale to IFC Services, it is expected that two construction projects will be progressing simultaneously late this summer. Both facilities should be complete by early 2007.
HCBI is also pleased to announce that Bonney Forge has made the decision to progress directly to “Phase 2” of the warehouse development plan, increasing the initial size of the warehouse facility from 30,000 square feet to 60,000 square feet. The decision to increase the building size is reportedly a combination of both cost savings and business growth, ensuring the retention of over 200 employees at Bonney Forge in Huntingdon County.
To assist with these development projects, HCBI has received a $25,000 grant through the Commonwealth’s Community Revitalization program. The funds will be used to upgrade storm-water and sewer facilities at the Business Center. Senator Robert Jubelirer was instrumental in working to assist with the grant application and award.
