Success Stories
Mutual Benefit Group
For nearly 100 years, Mutual Benefit Group has called Huntingdon its home. Today, MBG has approximately 200 employees and has experienced brisk growth. In a recent survey of independent insurance agents, MBG ranked in the top 3 nationally for service in both personal lines and commercial lines. To continue this growth, MBG identified the need for additional office space.
HCBI coordinated efforts with the Governor's Action Team (GAT) and obtained a $3.05 million package of loans, tax credits and worker training grants to help MBG make its expansion plans a reality. As a result of the expansion, MBG is committing to add jobs in Huntingdon and is positioned for future growth.
Park Furniture
When Gary Snare, co-owner of Park Furniture wanted to expand his current business, he contacted HCBI. With the assistance of HCBI, Gary received financing through the Community Economic Development loan program. The $100,000 low-interest loan allowed Gary to recently break ground on a new 10,000 square foot retail showroom in Orbisonia.
Full Performance Marine
Full Performance Marine needed more space. As Brenda Finkelstine's business grew, she needed a way to finance an expansion. HCBI was able to assist Brenda with financing to construct a new multi-use facility in Entriken. The $100,000 low-interest CED loan helped Full Performance Marine construct a building large enough to house their showroom, sales office, storage and marine service buisness.
Raystown Mountain Bike Trail
Working together with the Huntingdon County Commissioners, the Huntingdon County Visitors Bureau and the Appalacian Regional Commission, HCBI recently led the efforts to conduct an environmental impact study for the creation of a new off-road bike trail at Raystown Lake. The development of the trail complements the marketing efforts of the Visitors Bureau and is part of the Cycle the Southern Alleghenies Regional Marketing Initiative.
